Thank you for the agency list - now I can start searching for a deal.
Any advice anyone ?
Just a quick thank you for the help section. You pointed me in the right direction, and although I haven't secured that 'Book Deal' yet, I'm sure you've saved me a lot of hastle.
Great website
Thanks once again.
Oh, i wish i'd have seen your website 12 months ago. I have paid over £4, 000 for a self published book, and received next to no help whatsoever. May I use your pages to warn other would be authors - please be careful of so called experts. Read the small print, ask for samples of theiir other authors and make sure you retain all your rights !
What a great info site. I am currently writing a sc- fi book, and have to say your advice has been a great help in avoiding some of the more obvious pitfalls. You should publish a Self-Help book for new writers - I'm sure it would sell.
Thanks once again - Robert.
Great advice, but it would be nice to see just a little recognition after slogging away on your work for 12 months plus. There again , if I had wanted rich rewards, I'd have been a footballer !
PLEASE REMEMBER, WHEN SOME ONE LOOKS AT YOUR MANUSCRIPT, AND TELLS YOU YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR STYLE, JUST REMEMBER IT,S YOUR STYLE ,BY ALL MEANS TWEAK IT A LITTLE, BUT WE ALL SHOULD WRITE PRIMERALY FOR OURSELVES, THEN IF ANY ONE IS KIND ENOUGH TO READ IT,THATS A BONUS.
I have just finished my manuscript and have read your 'Writers Guide'. Thank you so much for this free service. I have been trawling through countless websites, then stumbled upon yours.
I have downloaded it , and I'm keeping it as a reference point for my next stage - attempting publication.
Sincere thanks
A grateful writer.
Tony is right - you can't have too much publicity. So unless you find yourself in the jungle or become a contestant on Big Brother, you will have to make sure you are noticed. Don't let that put you off though, someone has to get published and it could be you.
Hi Claire,
Promote yourself to death, even before you are published, if you can get yourself a website with good links etc, that helps no end, as people follow their favourite writers on blogs and websites.
Keep Plugging !
How long have you got Claire? The book market is very tough, and particularly for new authors. Most agents would prefer to see a bit of a track record, whilst most publishers wouldn't even look at you without an agent. So how can you help your work along?
Have a look at other published books within your category. Ensure your manuscript is well presented. Offer a slap dash work ,and you wil never see the light of day - first impressions etc.
Be determined, if you're not, nobody else will be. Read as much info on publishing in general and don't rush in, if you have a quality manuscript you stand as good a chance as anybody else - Good Luck.
I'm just nearing the end of my manuscript, and wondered if any of your writers or visitors could advise me on the best way to publish ? Eg, am I best to get an agent, what chance do I stand with publishers etc?
